What we need
Symbotic is seeking a ROC Manager to oversee operations and management of Symbotic’s Remote Operations Center. This leadership role requires a person to guide and direct the ROC team towards achieving operational excellence and strategic goals. As a ROC Manager, you will lead and influence the ROC team to foster a team environment that is focused on creative problem solving, cross-collaboration, and continuous improvement. We seek a leader with a passion for delivering best-in-class results to our distribution centers and a commitment to excellence in all aspects of operations.
What we do
The ROC Manager sits in the Remote Operations Center, which is a centralized Symbotic-managed operations hub that enables remote monitoring, control, and optimization of site operations across our network from one unified facility. The Remote Operations team is a new group within the Customer Operations organization, which is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of Symbotic’s robotic material handling system. The Customer Operations organization drives operational excellence by engaging and partnering with our onsite customers and supporting cross-functional partners to drive best-in-class quality, safety and system performance.
What you’ll do
Manage the ROC and its team members who are responsible for conducting remote system troubleshooting for specific use cases, root cause analysis, performance assessments, and analyzing cause-and-effect relationships.
Oversee the centralization, standardization, and enhancement of ROC specific processes and procedures.
Create and foster an environment focused on reducing variability within the Symbotic automation network through the development and implementation of standardized control center processes and practices (onsite and remotely).
Establish a ROC operating model grounded in long-term, strategic problem-solving, streamlining control center workflows, and continuous improvement.
Serve as the face of the ROC and report-out to executive teams and cross-functional partners on the center’s progress and long-term strategy.
Lead the implementation of corrective actions identified through RCAs.
Share insights and best practices with onsite control center teams and operations leadership.
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing ROC operations team by fostering a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
Define best practices and design operating model procedures for the Remote Operations Center
What you’ll need
Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or Industrial Automation, Business Administration required, or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 5 years of related functional experience.
Minimum 3 years of direct management and leadership within an operations environment.
Knowledge and experience in logistics, material management, inventory control systems, and manufacturing operations.
Ability to drive change and implement process improvements.
Strong understanding of operational metrics and performance management.
Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards.
Flexible working hours, overtime and shift-based work may be required
Ability to develop standards, processes, and documentation for dealing with specific problems using data-driven decision making.
Understanding of drivers of system performance and ability to report on trends of problems and present solutions.
Leadership skills with ability to motivate cross-functional or cross-facility groups.
Ability to direct and guide employees daily standard work.
Must be literate, written and verbal, in English Language.
Our Environment
This position is an in-person requiring on-site presence at the Symbotic headquarters in Wilmington, MA
Up to 10 - 15% of travel may be required, travel during onboarding/training will be up to 100%. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
The ROC is a 24/7 operation. Dependent on shift schedules, there may be situations when you are working independently in an office environment.
Dependent on shift schedules, there may be situations when you are working in an isolated situation at night.
During required travel for training and to visit facilities the following may apply:
There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure. You may be required to routinely walk up and down stairs to navigate the automation structure.
You may regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.
Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.
The employee may be required to work at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. Where you may need to be able to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Must be capable of occasional and/or continuous feeling, seeing, hearing, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, balancing, gripping, climbing, crawling, sitting, handling objects, and repetitive movement using both hands and feet.
Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.
