About Agility Robotics

Agility Robotics is pioneering the future of humanoid robotics, developing advanced robots designed to work seamlessly in human environments. As we scale our technology and production, we are seeking a Senior Manager of System Test & Integration to lead and grow our System Test and Integration teams, ensuring the reliability, performance, and seamless integration of our hardware and software systems.

Location:

This position can be based either within commuting distance of our Salem, OR headquarters or remotely in the San Francisco Bay Area. For remote candidates, regular travel to Salem, typically 1, but sometimes 2 weeks per month will be required.

About the Role

The Senior Manager, System Test & Integration will build, lead, and mentor a team of engineers responsible for hardware and software testing, system integration, debugging, manufacturing test development, and daily software regression testing. This role requires a strong balance of technical expertise, strategic leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to define and execute test and integration strategies while fostering a high-performing and engaged team.

This is a senior management role with a strong focus on leadership, team development, and process improvement. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in test and integration within robotics, aerospace, automotive, or other complex electromechanical systems, combined with a track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams.

About the Work

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of test and integration engineers, ensuring clear ownership and accountability across functional areas.
  • Set strategic direction for test and integration, aligning with company and engineering objectives.
  • Drive a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the team.
  • Identify and recruit top-tier talent, ensuring the team scales effectively to meet growing demands.
  • Establish clear career development pathways, providing mentorship and coaching to up-level the team.

Test & Validation Strategy

  • Oversee the verification and validation (V&V) strategy to ensure comprehensive hardware and software test coverage.
  • Guide the development of hardware reliability testing, durability testing, and failure analysis to improve product robustness.
  • Ensure test plans and methodologies are aligned with systems engineering best practices and the V-model.
  • Champion data-driven decision-making, ensuring test results are used to inform design iterations and optimizations.

Manufacturing Test Development & Support

  • Provide strategic leadership on end-of-line test stations and manufacturing test automation.
  • Guide the development of test software for manufacturing, ensuring efficiency and scalability.
  • Oversee root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions, ensuring issues identified in production are systematically addressed.
  • Partner with Manufacturing & Quality teams to establish a robust test framework that supports production scaling.

System Integration, Debug & RCA

  • Manage the hardware and software system integration team, overseeing robot bring-up, debugging, and troubleshooting across all levels (PCBA, subsystem, full robot).
  • Drive a structured approach to failure analysis and RCA, ensuring systematic resolution of integration issues.
  • Ensure best practices for logging, debugging, and test automation are implemented to accelerate issue identification and resolution.
  • Work closely with the firmware and software teams to streamline real-time data collection and automated diagnostics.

Software Daily Test & Continuous Validation

  • Support and oversee the existing team and lead who is responsible for daily software testing and validation, ensuring alignment with broader test and integration efforts.
  • Ensure the daily software regression testing process for our fleet of test robots is effectively managed, providing continuous monitoring, debugging, and validation of software updates.
  • Ensure test results are systematically captured, analyzed, and fed back into software and hardware development cycles.
  • Work with Systems and Software Engineering to improve test automation, infrastructure, and tooling to increase coverage and efficiency.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement

  • Partner with Hardware, Software, Systems Engineering, and Manufacturing to drive deep cross-functional alignment.
  • Work with leadership to define strategic test and integration initiatives that improve development efficiency and execution speed.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve test processes, tools, and infrastructure to ensure scalability and robustness.

About You

  • 12+ years of experience in test engineering, system integration, or validation in complex hardware/software environments.
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering management, leading test, validation, or integration teams.
  • Proven experience in hiring, mentoring, and developing engineering talent.
  • Industry experience in robotics, aerospace, autonomous vehicles, automotive, or similarly complex electromechanical systems.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering, the V-model, and verification & validation (V&V) methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with test software development (Python, C++, or similar) and test automation.
  • Expertise in hardware reliability testing, manufacturing test development, and failure analysis.
  • Familiarity with EtherCAT, CAN, and real-time communication protocols used in robotic systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence technical direction in a high-growth startup environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing scalable test architectures for robotic or complex electromechanical systems.
  • Hands-on experience with test automation, data logging, and diagnostic tools.
  • Background in statistical analysis and test data interpretation to drive reliability improvements.
